Paper leaves the building; trust should not. CEMAC POS prints a QR code on the documents that matter, so anyone holding a printout can scan it and see whether the figures on the page still match the ones the system holds. A genuine document confirms as valid; a photocopy that has had a total tippexed and re-typed does not.
How the check actually works
The verification does not trust a number stored on the paper. When the QR code is opened, CEMAC POS recomputes the document's totals from the underlying records and compares a fingerprint of that live result with the one encoded in the code. If a single amount, date or line has changed, the recomputed fingerprint differs and the document fails to verify. This is why the check is meaningful rather than cosmetic.
What can be verified
- Invoices, so a customer or supplier can confirm the copy they hold.
- Receipts, so a returned item can be matched to a real sale.
- Financial statements, so a printed summary a bank or accountant receives can be confirmed against the shop's own data.
Why this suits Cameroon
Much local business still moves on paper that passes through many hands. A verifiable seal lets a supplier, a landlord or a lender accept a printed figure without having to log in to your system or take your word for it. The scan is public and read-only; it exposes only that the document is authentic, not your private books.
Verification recomputes from live records; it does not rely on a hash printed and stored on the document. Keep the verify route intact when customising statements, or the QR seal stops meaning anything.
Because everything traces back to immutable, hash-chained sales, a document that verifies today will verify the same way next year, giving your paperwork a shelf life that ordinary printouts never had.
