Trust in a shop's books rests on one thing: that the record you see today is the record that was made at the time. CEMAC POS enforces this by making sales immutable. Once a sale is completed it is never edited or deleted; a correction is made as a new, linked movement, so the original always survives.
What hash-chaining means
Every sale carries a fingerprint that includes the fingerprint of the sale before it, the way links form a chain. Change any detail of an old sale and its fingerprint changes, which no longer matches what the next sale recorded, and the break is obvious at once. To hide a single altered sale you would have to recompute every sale after it, which the system will not let you do.
What this protects you from
- Staff quietly deleting a sale to pocket the cash.
- A total being edited after the fact to shrink a tax bill or a takings figure.
- A dispute where a customer or partner claims a sale said something it did not.
- Silent corruption, since a broken chain surfaces rather than hiding.
Corrections done the honest way
Immutable does not mean inflexible. When you refund or cancel, CEMAC POS writes a fresh entry that reverses the original and references it, so both the sale and its correction are visible. Anyone reviewing the history sees exactly what happened and when, which is far stronger evidence than a record that could simply be wiped.
The chain is what makes verifiable QR documents meaningful. Statements and invoices recompute against these immutable sales, so a document can be trusted precisely because the data behind it cannot be rewritten.
