Receipts and printing: A4 invoice, thermal and WhatsApp
CEMAC POS gives you a detailed A4 invoice and a compact thermal ticket, and can send either straight to the customer on WhatsApp. Here is how to choose the right one.
Every sale can produce a receipt, and CEMAC POS offers two formats for two different needs. A shop selling to walk-in customers usually prints a small thermal ticket; a business invoicing a company client needs the full A4 document with names, addresses and VAT breakdown. Both are bilingual, French by default with English available.
How it works
When you finish a sale you choose how to deliver the receipt. The A4 detailed invoice is a full-page document that carries your shop details, the client information you attached, every line with quantities and the 19.25% VAT breakdown — the right choice for a customer who needs a proper invoice. The thermal ticket is a narrow receipt sized for 58mm or 80mm roll printers, compact and quick, for everyday counter sales. Either format can also be sent to the customer on WhatsApp instead of, or in addition to, printing on paper.
- A4 detailed invoice — full page, client details, VAT breakdown, for company and formal customers
- Thermal ticket — 58mm or 80mm roll, compact, for fast counter sales
- WhatsApp receipt — send the receipt straight to the customer phone, saving paper
- Bilingual output — French by default, English available
Printing a receipt step by step
- Complete the sale and reach the receipt screen.
- Choose the format: A4 detailed invoice or thermal ticket (58/80mm).
- For an A4 invoice, make sure a customer with their details is attached so the invoice header is complete.
- Select the target printer or the browser print dialog for A4.
- For thermal, confirm the paper width (58mm or 80mm) matches your printer roll.
- Print, or tap the WhatsApp option to send the receipt to the customer number instead.
- Hand over the paper ticket, or confirm the WhatsApp message was sent.
Choosing 80mm layout on a 58mm printer cuts off the right side of the ticket. Always match the width setting to the physical roll loaded in the printer.
Common errors and how to fix them
| Message / symptom | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Thermal ticket text is cut off on the right | Layout width does not match the printer roll | Set the receipt width to match the roll (58mm or 80mm) loaded in the printer |
| A4 invoice is missing the client name and address | No customer was attached to the sale | Attach a customer with full details before printing, or reprint after adding them |
| Nothing prints on the thermal printer | Printer is off, out of paper, or not paired with the device | Check power and paper, re-pair the Bluetooth or USB printer, then reprint |
| WhatsApp receipt did not reach the customer | The customer phone number is missing or wrong | Verify the number on the customer profile, correct it, then resend |
| Receipt prints in the wrong language | The receipt language differs from what the customer expects | Switch the language setting to French or English and reprint |
Common questions
Do I need a special printer?
For tickets, any standard 58mm or 80mm thermal printer works. For A4 invoices you use a normal document printer or save to PDF from the print dialog.
Can the customer get the receipt without paper?
Yes. You can send the receipt directly on WhatsApp to the customer phone number, which saves paper and reaches them instantly.
Which format should I give a company client?
Use the A4 detailed invoice with the client attached — it includes their name, address and the full VAT breakdown they need for their own records.
