OHADA / SYSCOHADA accounting

CEMAC POS keeps its books the OHADA way. When a sale is completed it does not just store a receipt; it produces a balanced double-entry journal against the SYSCOHADA chart of accounts. A cash sale debits the till account and credits sales plus the VAT payable, so debits and credits always match to the franc.

The accounts a sale touches

A typical retail sale posts to the cash or bank account for what the customer paid, to a revenue account for the goods sold, and to the collected-VAT account for the tax portion. Because prices are stored VAT-inclusive at 19.25%, the app separates the net revenue from the tax automatically, so account 701 and account 4431 are never left for you to split by hand.

Draft entries, not surprises

• Each sale generates its journal entry the moment it is completed.
• Entries are balanced by construction, so a period never fails to add up.
• Payments by cash, MTN MoMo or Orange Money post to the matching account.
• Entries reference the sale that produced them, so you can trace any figure back to its source.

From daily takings to a trial balance

Because every sale, refund and payment lands in the journal as it happens, the ledger is always current. You can read balances by account and produce the summaries an accountant expects under SYSCOHADA, rather than reconstructing a month of paper receipts at year end. Your accountant works from figures that already speak their language.

The chart of accounts follows SYSCOHADA numbering, so the account codes on screen are the ones your accountant already knows. Nothing here asks you to learn a new coding scheme; it simply keeps the entries in order as you trade.
