Offline-first selling

Keep ringing up sales when the internet drops — the till never depends on a connection.

Sale savedNo internetSelling continues

Power cuts and patchy mobile data are a daily reality in Cameroon, and a till that stops when the connection drops is worse than useless. CEMAC POS is offline-first: the app runs on the device itself, so selling never waits on the network.

Everything the counter needs, locally

Products, prices, customers and the cart all live on the device, so a cashier can search, scan, add lines, take payment and print or share a receipt with no internet at all. Loyalty points are recorded against the customer locally too. From the cashier's point of view, an offline sale looks and behaves exactly like an online one.

  • Full checkout with no connection
  • Products and prices cached on the device
  • Receipts print or share offline
  • Loyalty recorded locally
  • No difference in the cashier's workflow

Sales are saved on the device

Each sale completed offline is written to a local outbox — a durable queue on the device — as an append-only record with a client-minted UUID. Nothing is lost if the connection stays down for hours or the app is closed and reopened; the queued sales wait safely until the device can reach the server.

Offline-first is a core design choice, not an add-on. There is no third-party sync engine in the loop — the queue and the sync are part of CEMAC POS itself — so the shop's data and its ability to trade never depend on an outside service being reachable.
