Mobile Money tenders
Accept MTN MoMo and Orange Money at the counter and record the transaction reference against the sale.
Mobile Money is how most Cameroonians pay, so CEMAC POS treats MTN Mobile Money and Orange Money as first-class tender types alongside cash and card. At the tender screen the cashier picks the operator, enters the amount, and the sale is settled the moment the customer confirms the transfer on their phone.
Capturing the reference
Every MoMo or Orange Money transfer produces an operator transaction reference. CEMAC POS gives the cashier a field to record that reference against the sale, so the payment is not just a note that says "mobile money" — it is a traceable line you can match against the operator statement later.
- MTN MoMo and Orange Money as distinct tenders
- Enter the amount in whole CFA francs
- Record the operator transaction reference
- Reference stored on the immutable sale record
- Reconcile against the operator statement at day-end
Why the reference matters
When you reconcile the till, cash you can count but mobile payments only exist as numbers on a phone. Storing the reference turns each mobile payment into an auditable entry: you can trace a specific sale to a specific transfer, spot a payment a customer claims to have sent, and settle disputes without guesswork.
Because the reference lives on the sale — which is immutable and hash-chained — it cannot be quietly edited after the fact. The mobile payment and its proof travel together for the life of the record and flow into the same draft SYSCOHADA journal entry the sale produces.
CEMAC POS records the payment and its reference; it does not itself move funds through the MTN or Orange APIs. The customer completes the transfer on their own phone in the usual way, and the cashier captures the result — which keeps the shop in control and avoids depending on a live payment-gateway connection at the counter.
